Queen of Tours
Madonna was the queen of the road during 2008 thanks to ticket sales of more than $105 million for her Sticky and Sweet tour.
The Material Girl was the top concert attraction in North America during the year according to Pollstar, the concert-tracking magazine, although Billboard recently put Bon Jovi atop its annual ranking of the year's biggest grossing tours.
Billboard looks at worldwide results as reported from Nov. 14, 2007, to Nov. 11 of this year, while Pollstar measures only box-office results in North America during the 2008 calendar year.
At No. 2 on Pollstar's list is Celine Dion, who earned $94 million from her first tour since ending her long residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and returning to the concert trail with her "Taking Chances" tour.
The Eagles claim the No. 3 spot with tour receipts of $73.4 million, followed by Kenny Chesney in fourth place with $72.2 million and Bon Jovi in fifth with $70.4 million.
Right behind Bon Jovi is Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, which tallied $69.3 million on the group's "Magic" tour.
Springsteen ranked No. 2 on Billboard's list, which reported nearly triple the tour grosses worldwide for both he and Bon Jovi -- $204.5 million and $210.6 million, respectively -- that Pollstar totaled for each act in North America during the year.
"All I can say [about the differences] is we have 100% of the individual show data to support these tour numbers," Pollstar editor Gary Bongiovanni told The Times.
Pollstar's Top 10 is dominated as it has been for years by rock and pop veterans. Rounding the list are Neil Diamond ($59.8 million), Rascal Flatts ($55.8 million), the Police ($48 million) and Tina Turner ($47.7 million)

The Queen of Pop beat British rockers ‘The Verve’, whose video of ‘Love Is Noise’ followed behind in popularity on the social networking site.
Meanwhile, Blur frontman Damon Albarn too had a reason to raise a toast, with his animated band Gorillaz becoming the most popular on the Internet, reports the Daily Express.
The English rockers won the most listened to act title leaving behind fellow artists such as Oasis, Coldplay, and Amy Winehouse to trail.
Vocalist Albarn and guitarist Graham Coxon had announced in December that the alternative rock group would undergo reformation after being missing from the scene for five years.

Finally, the ex-Mrs. Ritchie stopped trying to educate the world with songs about starving children, world politics and spiritual growth and relented to make the disk fans wanted all along — one packed with pure, catchy dance-pop — the best of its kind since her debut, in fact. Facing 50, Madonna threw herself a kind of party record that doubled as the best present fans could hope for.

Keep it together
Madonna and her estranged husband Guy Ritchie set aside their differences to spend the holiday season with their children.
The family enjoyed a 'split' Christmas Day in Britain - film director Ritchie stayed at the family's country estate in Wiltshire, England with sons David, three, and Rocco, eight, while Madonna spent the day with daughter Lourdes, 12, at the couple's London mansion.
The following day Ritchie drove to London so the whole family could be together - and they were later seen heading out for a walk.
An onlooker told tabloid The People: "They all looked really at ease with each other."
Madonna and Lourdes had partnered up while Guy walked with the boys but there was an overall sense of togetherness.
"It was as if they wanted everyone to see that they have made peace with each other. It was so lovely after all the tales of rows and bickering. Let's hope it lasts for the children's sakes."
The source added: "Everyone hopes their feelings of togetherness aren't just for Christmas but will continue well beyond."
The couple announced its split in October and were granted a preliminary divorce on November 21. The union will be officially dissolved in the new year.

New Early recordings
The tape, which has sat in a closet for well over two decades, was recorded on a portable cassette player at a rehearsal studio in Manhattan, circa 1979-1980. This particular recording was not intended as a demo, and is not a bootleg, but was actually recorded by Madonna herself for a friend, who at the time was being considered as a bass player in her band, The Breakfast Club. Whereas some of the songs may be familiar to you, the music presented on this tape captures the raw, uncensored sound of the young diva. She introduces each of the seven songs herself, singing and playing acoustic guitar on all of them.
The recording includes the following songs:
All My Love
No Running In The City
Hear Me
Safe Neighborhood
Simon Says
Love Express
Little Boy Lost
PLEASE NOTE: The handwriting on the cassette is not Madonna's, but was written by the musician for whom this tape was made. The name of the musician has not been realased to protect his privacy.

Guy´s Christmas
Guy Ritchie is reportedly spending Christmas with his sons.
Madonna brought the couple’s boys – Rocco, 8, and David – to her ex, yesterday.
The former couple, who wrapped up their divorce settlement last week, met up at their London home and less than an hour later, Ritchie and the boys were spotted heading off to his Wiltshire, England estate.
Madonna is expected to spend the holidays at her London home, following the completion of her hugely successful “Sticky & Sweet” tour.
Live Nation, the promoters of Madonna’s worldwide tour announced this week that the “Sticky & Sweet” trek brought in more than $280 million in ticket sales, the highest-grossing tour for any solo artist.
Over two million fans caught Madonna’s trek in Europe, North America and South America
Mo Christmas Celebration!
Madonna has bought £5,000 of wine laced with silver to add a sparkle to her Christmas celebrations.
The singer, 50, ordered 25 bottles of the 24k Silver wine from a vineyard in Valencia, Spain.
The drink is made with a liquor which has specks of the precious metal suspended in it and is said to be popular in celebrity circles.
Alberto Fernandez, director of the wine producers, Artesanos del Vino, said: "We have many rich and famous clients who will serve our product at their Christmas parties.
"It's made by mixing a liquor containing silver dust into a sparkling rosé."
His company also sells wine laced with gold. He said: "Historically there have always been people looking for an elixir of eternal youth through gold.
"The Chinese, Greeks, Arabs and Indians all did it."
Madonna may have had help from her father Tony Ciccone, a vintner himself, in sourcing the expensive drink.
He has been running Ciccone Vineyard in Michigan with his wife Joan since 1995 and produces award-winning gewürztraminer and Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Grigio and dessert wines.
Madonna is reportedly spending Christmas in England this year with ex-husband Guy Ritchie, 40, and children Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight, and David Banda, three.
The couple were granted a decree nisi last month after seven-and-a-half years of marriage.

Pretender

Pretender
He's a pretender, he knows just what to say
He's a pretender, yeah you meet him every day
He's a pretender, that fish that got away
He's a pretender, why'd I fall in love
It was so strange the way he held my hand
I wanted more than just a one night stand
He had a way of making me believe
That he was mine and that he'd never leave
I know that I should take my friend's advice
'Cause if it happened once, you know it happens twice
If there's a chance then I know I've got to try
I'll make him dance with me, I'll make him tell me why
He's a pretender
He's a pretender
I'm not afraid to fall a hundred times
And I'll believe in all your silly lies
I'd like to think that I could change your mind
Don't say that I am blind, I know all about your kind
He's a pretender, yeah you meet him every day
He's a pretender, that fish that got away
He's a pretender, why'd I fall in love
I like the way he moved across the floor
And when he danced with me I knew he wanted more
But in the dark things happened much too fast
I should've stopped him then, I knew it wouldn't last
I know that I should take my friend's advice
'Cause if it happened once, you know it happens twice
If there's a chance then I know I've got to try
I'll make him dance with me, I'll make him tell me why
I'm not afraid to fall a hundred times
And I'll believe in all your silly lies
I'd like to think that I could change your mind
Don't say that I am blind
You lie, you lie, You lie, you lie
You lie, you lie, You lie, you lie
I know all about your kind
He's a pretender
He's a pretender
He's a pretender, he knows just what to say
He's a pretender, yeah you meet him every day

MADONNA'S 'STICKY & SWEET TOUR: #1 GROSSING TOUR IN HISTORY FOR SOLO ARTIST
With the completion of Madonna's final show in Sao Paulo Brazil last evening - one of eleven record-breaking performances in South America - the 'Material Girl's' 'Sticky & Sweet' Tour reigns supreme by becoming the Number One Largest Grossing Tour in history by a solo artist, it was confirmed today by Live Nation, the tour's international producer. Her 58 shows in Europe, the US, Canada, Mexico and South America played for a staggering 2,350,282 million fans and sold over (USD)280,000,000 in tickets.
"Madonna has yet again demonstrated her true global appeal as a live performer whether in stadiums or arenas. Not only will this tour be the top selling tour of all time for a solo artist and a female artist (eclipsing her own record), but it will position her as one of the top selling touring artists of all time" said Arthur Fogel, Live Nation's Chairman of Global Music and CEO of Global Touring.
Along with record breaking ticket sales in South America with a total 650,000 tickets sold, the 'Sticky & Sweet' Tour sold 72,000 tickets at Zurich's Military Airfield Dubendorf - the largest audience ever assembled for a show in Switzerland. In London, where she performed in front of 74,000 fans with over 12 million dollars in ticket sales, Madonna surpassed all previous records at both the old and new Wembley Stadiums. In New York City, Madonna's four sell-outs at Madison Square Garden shows added up to a record breaking 23 sold out performances since 2001 at that venue - a record for most appearances for a single artist in this decade.
Madonna's multi Grammy-nominated CD "Hard Candy" debuted at number one early this year in over 37 countries.
