Confessions Tour Backdrop

  Mo & Guy proyects

Madonna and Ritchie are keen on maintaining a friendly relationship both for their children's sake -- and possibly for a few joint film projects. Despite the dismal failure of previous movies the two have made -- remember ''Swept Away''? -- Madonna in particular believes ''she and Guy could still make a terrific film, if they find the right project,'' said a Madonna insider

Guy Ritchie has indeed visited Madonna at her New York apartment, but only to discuss their kids and a possible film.

  Madonna Nude

Christie's auction house says a 30-year-old nude photo of Madonna, which earned her a $25 modeling fee, is expected to sell for at least $10,000.

n

The full frontal image was taken by Lee Friedlander and appeared in Playboy in 1985.

Matthieu Humery (mah-TYOO' OO'-meh-ree), head of Christie's photography department, says Madonna was a 20-year-old dancer trying to make ends meet when she answered Friedlander's newspaper ad seeking a nude model in 1979.

He says six photos from the shoot were sold to Playboy and the one up for auction Feb. 12 is "maybe the most explicit one."

Another photo of Madonna, by Helmut Newton, is also in the auction. In that shot, she is wearing lingerie.

  Sacha´s joke... really funny

Though many stars at the Golden Globes did not think Sacha Baron Cohen's joke about Madonna was funny -- the new divorcee apparently thought it was a riot. Cohen, best known now for his hit film ''Borat,'' quipped that the recession had forced many stars to cut back. He cited Madonna even having to fire ''one of her assistants. ... Our thoughts are with you, Guy Ritchie."

Madonna said, ''Come on. He's a comedian. We're public people. We're fair game ... and it was funny.''

  Madonna workout

Queen of pop Madonna still manages to look half her age even at 50, and it is all thanks to the rigorous diet and exercise regime her personal trainer Tracy Anderson has put her on.

Madge follows a gruelling two-hour workout six days a week, and Anderson, 33, remains at her side every moment of it.

The trainer had been helping the singer maintain her health even when she was divorcing her hubby Guy Ritchie.

“There are days when she doesn’t feel good and days when she’s having a hard time, but Madonna still works out for two hours whatever,” the Mirror quoted Anderson as saying.

“She’s consistent and she doesn’t ever make excuses. Nothing has changed since the divorce, Madonna hasn’t changed.

“Madonna will never look her age. She doesn’t even look half her age - she looks 19.

“I don’t have to scream at her because she’s so motivated. She organizes her time so she can train - she makes an appointment to do it and she keeps it, but two hours is the most she ever exercises in a day,” she stated.

Madonna was recently described as “half-starved” but Anderson claims that she eats well and even allows herself the occasional treat, which is sugar and gluten-free.

“All my clients eat. Madonna has a very healthy appetite. She doesn’t eat processed food, she’s very conscious of the quality of the things she eats but she has treats - she loves cupcakes,” she said.

“To say she is on a starvation diet is bull****. She burns a lot of calories.

“She will never get fat. Why would she let it go? She relaxes but she’s smart, she knows that if she stops exercising she will have loose skin tone. Why should we criticize someone who works hard, is consistent and gets results because they’re smart with their time?” she added.

  Madonna seeks counseling

Tough as old boots Madonna is getting in touch with her fluffy side.

We've heard that the Material Girl - notoriously controlling when it comes to relationships - has begun a course of intense counselling sessions to make her "less domineering" in love.

Fresh from her split with Guy Ritchie, Madonna, 50, has been having one-on-one sessions with a leading rabbi at the Kabbalah centre in New York.

Guru Philip Berg, it is said, is seeking to "tweak her tikkun".

It might sound like a curry but it is in fact all to do with her spiritual path.

If her tikkun gets the right kinda tweakin', it will hopefully make her less controlling when she embarks on her next romance.

Good luck with that, Rabbi!

We're told: "Madonna has been having a tough time with Kabbalah in the wake of her and Guy's split.

"Whenever she's in New York, she's taken to having intense private sessions with Rabbi Berg, working on her tikkun.

"She feels that previous relationships have broken down because she always takes control, not allowing the other party to flourish and be themselves.

"Madonna's a very strong woman and naturally tends to dominate and take control of a relationship.

"This is a pattern she is determined to alter in an effort to find the right person."

If she doesn't, she could be doomed to making the same old mistakes for ever...

Our source goes on: "She's been taught that if you keep experiencing the same relationship problems over and over again it's because you haven't realised where the real problem lies.

"As a result Madonna is working desperately hard to try and change herself from a control queen into someone who steps back. She is fighting her demons."

It already seems to be paying dividends.

Madge met up with Guy at her Manhattan apartment on Tuesday for a cosy night in and a catch-up.

According to our source, Madge - who once described herself as bad cop to Guy's good in the couple's dealings with their kids - is also trying to give the youngsters more leeway.

Hmm... she may be more mellow but we still wouldn't mess with Her Madgesty.

  Reader to teach Mo

British eventer Daisy Trayford is heading to Florida this week to coach Madonna for two weeks at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival (7 January-29 March) at Wellington, Florida. Daisy, 27, has been teaching the popstar for two years with the connection starting when Madonna bought two horses from Exmoor Eventing, the business Daisy (née Binding) runs with her husband Richard.

"She had the horses on trial and asked if I would go down and help get her going on them," said Daisy. "The first year it was really busy. Last year was more difficult because she was on tour, but I was there most weekends, fitting it around my eventing."

Madonna flew one of the horses, all-rounder Boris, out to America six months ago and last week he was joined by the second one, young eventer Sportsfield Silver Lining.

"As soon as he's there and settled in she wants me to go out," said Daisy, who says she will probably get 24hr notice to fly out on Thursday or Friday.

Madonna has also bought two other horses from Daisy and Richard, who are at livery at Exmoor Eventing.

Daisy describes teaching Madonna as "really good fun".

"She's a dream pupil," she said. "She's very driven, listens to what you say and just wants to do it and improve. You can always get somewhere with someone like that.

"When I started teaching her she hadn't jumped at all and now she can jump a course of 1.05m. Jumping and hacking are her two favourite things."

Daisy says she wasn't startstruck when she started coaching the star, taking it as "just another chore".

"I'm pretty laid-back about things like that. She's very friendly and we have been to things like Christmas drinks and her 50th birthday party and met lots of stars."

Daisy is not the first eventer to teach Madonna, as in January 2006 Horse & Hound reported that Madonna was learning from William Fox-Pitt and particularly enjoyed riding Moon Man, who was put down in December.

  Guy visits Madonna

Guy Ritchie has paid a visit to Madonna's New York apartment as the divorced couple continue to put their differences aside for the sake of their children".

Guy Ritchie is currently filming scenes for "The Sherlock Holmes" movie in Brooklyn. Guy took time away from set yesterday and was seen leaving Madonna's Manhattan residence.

  Mo Tops Ultimate Top 10

It’s official: Madonna tops the Los Angeles Times’ Ultimate Top 10, an annual survey combining sales of concert tickets, albums and digital downloads to measure which acts were most popular with the broadest swath of music lovers.
Madonna was the No. 1 concert attraction in North America during the year, according to Pollstar, the concert-tracking magazine, and she enjoyed album sales to the tune of $12.5 million in addition to downloads of $2.3 million. This year there’s also a total split between Nielsen SoundScan’s ranking of the 10 biggest-selling performers of 2008 and Pollstar’s Top 10 highest-grossing North American concert tours. The highest any Top 10 SoundScan act finished in Pollstar’s 2008 ranking was No. 13, where the Jonas Brothers (No. 7 among album sellers) landed after playing to 1.3 million fans last year.Concert revenue hit $4.2 billion in 2008, according to Pollstar, a 7 percent rise over the previous year, even though the number of tickets sold was down. An 8.4 percent increase in average ticket prices was behind the rise, figures that are “astounding considering the economic environment in which they were generated,” Pollstar Editor Gary Bongiovanni said.

The road is still where artists tend to make the most money. Only three of the Nielsen SoundScan biggest-selling artists of 2008 — AC/DC, Coldplay and the Jonas Brothers — make the Ultimate Top 10, even folding in their revenue from digital track sales.

The best example? Taylor Swift sold more albums than any other act last year: 4 million, giving her $52 million in revenue from album sales using $13 as the average price of a CD. But she placed No. 12 in the Ultimate Top 10 calculations because she played only a handful of concerts as a headliner. She spent most of the year as a supporting act on Rascal Flatts’ tour.

That leaves the upper reaches of the Ultimate Top 10 to the veterans, and no one outperformed Madonna, whose combined income of $120 million is a drop from last year’s winner, the Police, which logged $140.7 million.

1. Madonna ($120 million).

The Material Girl took in $105.3 million from touring, in addition to $14.8 million from music sales. It’s hard to decide what’s more impressive. The average gross at her shows, mostly in stadiums, was $5.5 million, and she drew about 36,000 people per show. Additionally, the average ticket price was $153.88, easily the highest among Pollstar’s Top 50 grossing tours. Worldwide, according to Pollstar, she amassed $281.6 million.

YoaKustoms was asked by celebrity photographer Nicolas Wagner to create sneaker art representing his line of work. The designer responded with the Confessions on a Dance Floor Dunks, posted originally on the YoaKustoms Customsnkr.com blog. These customs Dunks are loosely based on the color scheme from Madonna’s latest album “Confessions on a Dance Floor.”

1

The inside edges feature the name Wagner in stylish black letters. On the outside, YoaKustoms created a black and purple portrait of Madonna to symbolize the beauty captured by Wagner’s camera. The designer used a purple background on both sides with black dots at the middle panel fading to purple by the time they hit the heel.

YoaKustoms created a great pair of custom sneakers that mesh well with Wagner’s work. This rising photographer to the stars frames his subjects to capture their outer beauty and inner spirit. YoaKustoms accomplished something similar with the Confessions on a Dance Floor Dunks.

  Girlie weekend for Mo

Gwyneth Paltrow is pulling out all the stops to cheer up pal Madonna - and has planned a girlie weekend for the pair, according to reports.
The Material Girl, 50, is still getting over failed marriage to director Guy Ritchie.
So in a bid to lift Madonna's spirits, Gwyneth has planned a break for the star back in London, A source says, "Gwyneth just wants to see a smile on her face. She has even bought Madonna some sexy Agent Provocateur underwear and toys.

"She has also planned a special break for her and Madge, which will take place mostly in London. "The weekend will include some low-key nights at top eateries and bars, followed by a spa break, probably at Babington House in Somerset."

  Peace deal throughout 2009

Madonna and Guy Ritchie have reportedly decided to extend their truce to five times a year for the sake of their children. The warring pair, locked in a sour custody battle for kids, were said to have made peace during Christmas as the Queen of Pop flew down to her ex-hubby's native England to celebrate the festive evening as a family.

And now, both the separated celebs have allegedly nodded in favour of continuing the peace deal throughout 2009 and to meet during important days for Rocco, eight, their adopted son David, three, and Lourdes, Madonna's 12-year-old daughter from a previous relationship
"When it comes down to it, they are both parents and they want to do what's right for their children," News of the World quoted a pal close to Guy as saying."Christmas was something done through gritted teeth, but it worked out in the end and was a success for the kids."But the children aren't stupid, especially Lourdes who is old enough to understand what's been going on. There was a lot of pain and nastiness last year," he added.

  Guy Ritchie new year alone

Madonna’s ex Guy Ritchie spent a forlorn New Year’s Eve alone at his country mansion after the couple’s festive truce.

Guy, 40, hid away, shunning party invites from pals as he brooded over the couple’s failed marriage.

While superstar Madge, 50, saw in the New Year with their three kids in the Maldives, the movie maker was at Ashcombe House, Wilts, with just his housekeeper for company.

The couple - whose divorce was officially finalised in court yesterday - buried the hatchet to get together on Boxing Day for the sake of Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight, and three-year-old David.

But worried pals claim Guy “hit the emotional buffers” afterwards and finally admitted how badly the marriage breakup has affected him. One friend told The People: “Guy was on a real downer over New Year and just wanted to be alone to think.

“He watched TV, had a few beers and then had an early night. He’s been quite bullish throughout the divorce and when out with the lads he gives the impression that he is relieved to be a free man again.

“But December 22 was their eighth wedding anniversary and Guy seemed to be feeling the split more than before. He and Madonna called a truce after Christmas and spent time together with the kids. He was surprised at how friendly and natural it felt. I suppose it got him wondering whether they could have handled things differently.”

Guy flies to New York today to work on his new movie Sherlock Holmes. The divorce decree was made absolute at London’s High Court.

The success of Madonna’s 2008 “Sticky & Sweet” tour - she reportedly earned $280 million in ticket sales - may not have hit its final note.   Louis Vuitton

“This was really different,” explains Antoine Arnault, communications director of Louis Vuitton, when asked how Madonna came to front the company’s new spring/summer campaign. “Usually, these things take much, much longer,” he explains; a lengthy process of identifying the right person to embody the fashion and luxury-goods brand, the right photographer, the right look for the campaign, plus, of course, all the deal-making a project like this involves. This time, however, pretty much everything was agreed inside a week.

lv5

“On the Monday,” Arnault recalls, “we had a meeting, and Marc Jacobs suggested Madonna. I thought, yes, great idea, but it will never happen. Then, in the meeting, Marc sent her a text saying, ‘Love, would you like to be the new Louis Vuitton woman?’ Five minutes later, she’d replied. He showed me his phone, and she’d said, ‘Yes, I’d love to do it.’” What could be simpler?

Clearly, when a big brand like Louis Vuitton chooses a new face for its campaign, it’s not just a matter of affectionate text messages between Marc Jacobs and Madonna. Men like Louis Vuitton’s CEO, Yves Carcelle, have to agree that it is a good idea, not a whim, as well as, of course, Carcelle’s boss and Antoine Arnault’s father, Bernard Arnault, head of the LVMH luxury-goods empire.

But as Antoine Arnault sees it, “Marc knows the brand probably better than anyone now,” having been artistic director for a decade, during which time Louis Vuitton has expanded massively. Jacobs had seen Madonna in concert the week before, but it wasn’t some “let’s be crazy” decision, Arnault explains, citing how Jacobs had previously picked J-Lo as the face of Louis Vuitton in 2003. “That wasn’t an obvious choice, perhaps, but it instantly put us on the top in the US in one campaign.

“Madonna is glamorous,” Arnault continues. “She has a global image. She’s the ultimate performer and businesswoman, and not someone who is just a famous singer. She has travelled; she has tried to change things.” And if her personal life isn’t perfect right now, “Well, that only makes her more human.” Once the proposal had been made, and provisionally accepted, in both cases by text, “Then we had to agree on a figure, a concept, a photographer.” Yet the whole process seems to have been plain sailing – an object lesson, if you like, in the degree of certainty that people at the top of the fashion industry tend to display about their creative choices.

The figure? Well, just how much Madonna is being paid for what is, in a sense, both one day’s work and the product of many years at the top of her game is a moot point. Some have claimed it’s $10 million (£6.6 million). But Arnault is careful to puncture that, saying, “The figure is really, really lower than that. In times like these, it would be totally irresponsible to pay anyone $10 million.”

The concept? Madonna has been photographed in a nostalgic, Parisian bistro setting, perhaps at that “waiters whistling as the last bar closes” moment in the early hours. “Only it’s in LA,” Arnault quips, not Paris – “One of those French bistros in California where you really think you’re in France” – and it’s daytime and there are hundreds of paparazzi outside. Madonna smoulders quietly, all fishnets and high kicks, with a glamour that gives more than a nod to Dietrich, long an acknowledged influence. She’s wearing Marc Jacobs’ ready-to-wear clothes for Louis Vuitton, styled by Marie-Amélie Sauvé, with, of course, due prominence given to some lovely bags and shoes, those accessories that have long been such steady earners for the brand.

But there is a certain quietness to the images, a kind of gentleness, perhaps, which might also (along with that willingly professed prudence over Madonna’s fee) be a sign of the extraordinary times we live in. Certainly, when I put it to Arnault that the crunch might be changing the aesthetic and that, in particular, a certain kind of flash advertising message now looks passé, even wrong somehow, he doesn’t exactly demur. “Other people can try to rationalise every campaign, but there is certainly a feeling that emerges from designers, photographers, creatives of all kinds, which is maybe something they don’t talk about, but which they can feel.”

The photographer in question here is Steven Meisel, rather than Mert and Marcus, who have shot all of Louis Vuitton’s campaigns since 2002, including those amazingly effective shots of J-Lo. “We were very happy with them,” Arnault insists, but all good things come to an end – and, after all, it was Meisel who photographed the wilder, younger, more in-your-face Madonna who leapt off the pages of Sex, the book which caused such a storm back in 1992. So this campaign can be seen as something of a reunion, Meisel additionally having photographed Madonna for Vanity Fair late last year. Jacobs and Meisel are old friends, too, Arnault explains, “from the crazy years of the Eighties”.

And once Antoine Arnault had assembled his dream team? “I think the three of them were in touch with each other on the phone almost every day,” he says of the run-up to the shoot, “talking about ideas, sharing references, then talking about individual shots.” On the big day itself, “About 50 people were on the set, which sounds like a lot, but it’s all in the preparation, in the make-up and the set and so on. Once that was in place, Madonna would come out, get into position, and the shots went amazingly quickly, sometimes in about 15 minutes. It was a delight.”

  Museum Displays Tiara

t

A rare red diamond, known as Kazanjian Red, is on display at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County through Feb. 1, museum officials announced today.

The rare gem is one of three large, red stones known to exist.

Discovered in South Africa in 1927, the red diamond was stolen during World War II and later recovered by American soldiers.

It was purchased by a collector in 1970 and remained hidden until it was purchased by Los Angeles-based Kazanjian Bros. Inc. in 2007.

This is the diamond's first exhibition in America.

Also on display at the museum is the "Hollywood Jewels Collection," which features the tiara worn by Madonna when she wed ex-husband Guy Ritchie, a bejeweled compact give to Carole Lombard by Clark Gable, and a gold and diamond necklace that actress Terry Moore received from Cary Grant.

  Bruno VS Madonna

She hit 50, split from hubby GUY RITCHIE and put herself through the wringer with a punishing world tour schedule to promote latest album Hard Candy.

So the put-upon songstress must have been looking forward to happier times in 2009.

But unfortunately for Madge one of her old friends has got other ideas.

Cutting comic actor SACHA BARON COHEN, most famous for his Borat and Ali G characters, will make Madonna the butt of a series of cruel jokes in his new film Bruno (or, to give it its proper title, Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America For The Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable In The Presence Of A Gay Foreigner In A Mesh T-Shirt).
The movie features the outrageously camp antics of Sasha’s latest favourite character, gay fashion journalist Bruno.

A major plotline sees Bruno and his boyfriend adopting an African baby called David, who they then happily parade around the chic fashion capitals of the world.

The joke is an open slap at Madonna, who adopted Malawian tot David Banda.

Sacha and Madonna became great mates a couple of years ago and he even
featured as Ali G in the video for her hit single Music.

I don’t know what Madonna has done to upset him but one thing’s for sure — she
won’t be happy when she gets wind of his film.

With friends like these, who needs enemies?
