There is an old cliche: When the student is ready the teacher appears.
I had traveled the world many times over, performed in soccer stadiums, appeared in films, dined with the state leaders, collaborated with great artists and achieved what most people would view as a high level of success but I still felt like something was missing from my life. I was pregnant with my daughter, almost 14 years ago and I had just finished the film Evita and I realized I had spent my whole life worrying about myself and that I would soon be responsible for someone else’s life. I was raised a Catholic and my father was very religious but none of my questions were ever really got answered when it came to trying to understand why people suffered in the world or what the meaning of life was all about. And I suddenly thought, “What will I teach my child about the important things in life?” I was practicing yoga for years and studying Sanskrit. I had read many books by the great Yogi Masters and Indian Avatars. I studied Buddhism and the teachings of Dali Lama. I studied Taoism and the Art of War. I read about the Gnostics and the early Christians. I learned a lot and I was very inspired but I still could not connect the dots and find a way to take this knowledge and apply it to my daily life. I was looking for an answer. I went to a dinner party in L.A. A woman sitting next to me was telling me about a class she was taking from Rabbi. She said it was so inspiring and that I should come along. I asked her what it was about. She said “Life”. I asked her what it was called. She said “Kabbalah”. I told her I wasn’t Jewish and she said: “What difference does it make what its called and what religious upbringing you have had if you are inspired?” She had a point. So I went to the class and sat in the back and I listened to a man named Eitan teach the class.
I heard what he had to say and I knew at this moment my life would never be the same. I began to go to the classes regularly and sit in the class with my notebook. No one bothered me. I Took notes. I met with Eitan privately and asked a lot of questions. The thing that was encouraged the most was to enquire further. All the questions I had about life began to be answered and I realized I had finally found a “belief system” or a philosophy that incorporated Science and Spirituality. I was learning about Physics, Astronomy, Nature and the laws of Cause and Effect. All the puzzle pieces started falling into place.
Life no longer seemed like a series of Random events. I started to see patterns in life. I woke up. I began to be conscious of my words and my actions and to really see results of them.
I also began to see that being Rich and Famous wasn’t going to bring me lasting fulfillment and that it was not the end of the journey. That it was the beginning of of the journey. I have been studying with Eitan consistently since that first class and it was only a matter of time before I met Michael Berg, whose father Rav Berg, comes from a long line of Kabbalists and was the teacher of Eitan. Michael Berg is a very unique human being. He might be the smartest person I know. At first he seemed quiet and shy, conservative and even perhaps a bit naive. But ask him a question on any subject and you will find yourself swimming in an ocean of information. Its astounding what he knows and what he has accomplished at such a young age. The fact that he translated 22 volumes of the Zohar from Aramaic into Hebrew and English is remarkable. The funny thing about Michael is that he is as comfortable and knowledgeable about discussing the teachings of the Ari as he is of discussing his favorite Seinfeld episode. He knows more about Pop Culture and what’s going on in the world then anyone I know and yet his desire to really affect change in the world and compassion he feels for people who are suffering is unparalleled. When Michael gets up to tell a story in front of a room full of people there is never a dry eye in the house including his own.
I am lucky to call him my friend.
He has a child with Down Syndrome and it is perhaps because of this that he feels the need to come to the rescue of children who are living in challenging situations or abject poverty.
We were both looking for a project to do with children and low and behold a Malawian woman appeared and told us about the plight of over 1 million children orphaned by AIDS in a small land locked country in Africa.
Before we knew it we were visiting Malawi and that was the birth of our foundation Raising Malawi.
Of course now that I know what I know, I realize that this did not happen by chance. Once again the students were ready and the teacher appeared. In this case the children of Malawi are the teachers. They have taught me so much. And they continue to teach me. As do Michael and Eitan.

U.S. pop star Madonna will perform at a Budapest soccer stadium despite protests by the Hungarian Football Association, organizers said Wednesday. If Madonna’s show is held at the Puskas stadium, two years of work of the national soccer team could be ruined, Istvan Kisteleki of the Hungarian soccer association told the Hungarian news agency MTI. The Hungarian national team is scheduled to play two major world cup qualification matches early in September and it would take more than 30 days to repair the turf on Budapest’s Ferenc Puskas stadium after Madonna’s concert Aug. 22. Hungary is to play Sweden Sept. 5 and Portugal Sept. 9.Lajos Vajto, the director of Budapest’s Kincsem Park, the site for horse tracks, said the Madonna concert could be held on his facility if the Puskas soccer stadium refuses to stage the show.

In Budapest, the show was quickly announced “sold out”, but due to a venue change (Kincsem Park to Puskas Ferenc Stadion) additional tickets are now available, including new seated tickets.

Madonna is going to play in Oslo on Tuesday and Thursday, and is expected to fly in from London on Tuesday afternoon with a private Jet-plane. She was supposed to stay in Oslo for five days, but canceled her reservations at Grand Hotel last week, and will fly back to London after the show, and return on Thursday.

50 people from Oslo started the hard work on building Madonna's gigantic stage last Thursday evening when 15 trailers arrived with the stage. Over the weekend an additional 36 trailers arrived with sound and lightning. According to VG, only Rollng Stones, U2 and Pink Floyd has brought such huge productions to Norway before Madonna. 130 Norwegians are working on building the stage on Monday and Tuesday. The stage is 65 meters wide, and has a weight of about 400 tons! 25 of the 350 people in Madonna's entourage are stage builders.

As we mentioned last week, Madonna’s personal home video, micro cassettes of her phone messages and 21 faxed letters from Madonna to then boyfriend James Albright (from 1992-1994) are displayed at the Gotta Have It! Rock & Roll Pop Art Auction at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Annex NYC.

 

Fans in Denmark can fight over 1000 extra tickets! The arranger of the concert has recieved all details about the stage, and come to the conclusion that 1000 more people can come to the show. All standing room only. The tickets were made available at 11.00 tuesday, and are most probably gone by now.

And what about Sweden? Well, if you live in Stockholm, you can catch a special Madonna train! Old t-shirts, party and lots of Madonna music is promised. Trains are scheduled for both the 8th and 9th of August. See link for details http://www.sjevent.se/.

After the accident in Marsielle, some people were worried about the effect it might have in Gothenburg, but the concerts will go on as promised. The gruond under Ullevi stadium will be reinfirced with steel pellars, as Madonna's stage is quite heavy. Ullevi's staff takes safety very seriously after the near collapse in 1985, when Bruce Springsteen and a very enthusiastic crowd almost rocked the stadium to pieces over two nights.

Furthermore, Swedish papers reports about the video for Celebration, which will be directed by long time collaborator Jonas Åkerlund. They also mention the Greatest Hits collection due for release in late September.

He was crucified by that court case when he was accused of child molestation - that killed him. He personified the pain and anxiety of a black man in a slave country. We all watched as he changed from black to white. He was living performance art. I think it was fortuitous that he died. He was supposed to be doing 50 concerts in London. It wouldn’t have mattered how good or bad he was. He wouldn’t have managed to do all of them and the press would have destroyed him. You cannot divide the music from the person. I think his life - and death - is a great lesson. I think we are going to see the end of celebrity as we know it. Showbusiness is not an honest profession.We’re living in very strange times. We have Michael Jackson, a black man who has gone white, and we have President Barack Obama, who is a half-white man gone black. It’s absolutely fascinating to watch.

The remixes for the first single off the package, Celebration, are signed by Benny Benassi, Chris Lake, Felguk, Johnny Vicious and of course the producer of the original track Paul Oakenfold. As for the special guest of the video we mentioned a few days ago, we can now report it’s the lovely Lourdes Leon herself. Madonna’s daughter will make her debut in her mum’s Celebration music video.We have also been told that Warner and Madonna’s camp are very happy with the positive buzz surrounding Celebration and planning the release of the second single off the GH. Revolver, the second new song contained in the new compilation, will be released as the second single sometime in September 2009.

JESUS is being coached by MADONNA to become a POPSTAR. Yes, you did read that right . . . Because the Queen of Pop has promised her ex-toyboy JESUS LUZ that she'll help him release a single. He's decided he wants to follow in her footsteps and revealed: "Madonna's energy inspires many people. I want to make music which can be danced to." Madonna dumped Jesus, 22, to work on her Sticky And Sweet world tour.

But she'll help him out in the studio once that finishes.

A close friend revealed: "They may not be lovers anymore but Madge has promised to help him because they are still very good friends. "She really wants him to succeed."
