  New idiots in Israel

More than 100 IDIOT Jews and Israeli Arabs are calling on Madonna to call off her Tel Aviv concerts, scheduled for September 1 and 2.

The group has formed an organization called Boycott! Support the Palestinian BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) Call from Within, and on Sunday sent a letter to Madonna asking her not to perform at the Tel Aviv Fairgrounds. According to Tel Aviv University Prof. Rachel Giora, a member of the group, the organization is also encouraging Israelis to boycott Madonna's performance, "to let Israel's government know how they feel... thereby hoping to encourage the Israeli government to reconsider its policies." "A performance here would imply that Israel is behaving in an acceptable manner, and would be interpreted by Israelis as moral support for the illegal and inhumane policies, described by many as war crimes and crimes against humanity," Giora said in the letter. The letter refers to Madonna's study of Kabbala and her understanding of the Jewish concept of tikkun olam, or healing the world. The group suggest that "Israel's actions don't reflect this [tikkun olam], as Palestinian dignity and life are being trampled upon." Although Madonna is not Jewish, she is known for her affection for Israel and the Jewish people, and her appreciation of Kabbala. It seems unlikely that she will comply with the boycott request.

This month, Madonna is taking her children to Poland, where they will visit Auschwitz. It is thought that Madonna specifically planned for her children to visit Poland and understand the horrors of the Holocaust before they all travel to Israel next month, where they will visit the Western Wall. If the performances are held as scheduled, it is likely that supporters of the boycott campaign will protest outside the venue. The Boycott! Support the Palestinian BDS Call from Within organization was founded in 2007 and is based on the boycott of South Africa during the apartheid era, Giora said. "Israel has long been practicing apartheid and violence against the indigenous Palestinians," the group claims. This time last year, the organization sent a similar letter to Leonard Cohen, asking him to boycott Israel. However, Cohen has confirmed his appearance at Ramat Gan Stadium on September 24. "We corresponded with his agent quite often, but the idea that Cohen [should] cancel his performance here fell on deaf ears," said Giora. When asked why the members didn't leave Israel and participate in a personal boycott, Giora said, "I strongly object to Israeli policies myself, but Israel is my home, for which I feel responsible and in which I hope to effect an immediate change for a better future."

  Madonna VS Barbie?

After learning that Heidi Klum was recently honored with her own Barbie Doll as part of the brand’s Blonde Ambition Collection, Madonna apparently decided she wanted to be immortalized in plastic, too, The Globe’s Loosch Lips Column reports. The company’s managers reportedly weren’t interested in the idea of producing a Madonna Barbie Doll to be included in the Blonde Ambition Dolls line. Word is Mattel — who met controversy over their Black Canary Barbie, in 2008 — feared the public backlash that could arise from consumers who frown on Madonna’s raunchy image.

m

“Since she’s used to getting what she wants, Madonna is now considering launching her own doll collection to rival Barbie.”

  S&S Ljubljana Canceled

Pop diva Madonna has cancelled her concert in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana on August 20, the organizer of the Sticky and Sweet tour said on Friday.
'Due to unexpected logistic difficulties, Madonna's concert scheduled for August 20 at the Ljubljana hypodrome has been cancelled,' Live Nation, the tour organizer for Eastern Europe, said in a statement.
It said that concerts in Munich and Budapest, scheduled for August 18 and 22, respectively, would run as planned.
Slovenian media reported earlier this week that the concert would be cancelled due to poor tickets sales.
News website 24ur reported Thursday that only 7,000 tickets out of 63,000 had been sold so far.
Slovenian music lovers often have to go to neighbouring Italy, Austria and Croatia to see their idols as large tours often skip the small country of two million people for fear of poor ticket sales.

  "Mercy Madonna of Malawi"

A musical about pop star Madonna's attempts to adopt a young African girl is being performed at the Edinburgh Fringe by a Malawian cast.

m

The 50-year-old star is portrayed in the play Mercy Madonna of Malawi by a black male actor in a blonde wig One of the performers, Shombi Banda, 29, claims he was heckled by the star when he performed for her in Malawi. He said she responded to a play about the African cultural identity by saying "money is the answer to everything." The show looks at how Madonna was given custody of four-year-old Mercy James. It also attempts to depict how people in the African country viewed the case. Madonna first spotted Mercy in an orphanage when she visited the African state in 2006. After a long-running court battle, the nation's highest court ruled earlier this year that the star could adopt the youngster on a permanent basis. While Madonna has come in for criticism in the Western press for using her wealth and influence to "buy" children, it has opened up a huge debate in the southern African country, with some feeling the youngster will have a better standard of life overseas. Shombi Banda said he had performed for Madonna in Lilongwe earlier this year. He said: "It was a very nice performance with the show talking about someone who went abroad for 20 years and then when he came back he was complaining life abroad was very tough and how he had lost his culture and his identity. "Madonna interrupted and said: 'You know money is the answer to everything'." Toby Gough, who created and directed the show, which is playing at St George's West in Edinburgh from 7 to 31 August, claimed Mr Banda was also sacked for revealing a few details about Madonna.

He told BBC Scotland: "Because he revealed a few secrets about Madonna's time in Malawi, just simple things like how many security guards she had, the fact she was heckling him during his performance, he was subsequently sacked because the owner felt he was putting his business in danger." The play, which is already a hit in its home country, fuses traditional Malawian dance with western pop music as it weighs up the rights and wrongs of a contentious story. Without taking sides, it asks whether it is right for a child to be taken away from her culture if it means enjoying a life of privilege. Robert Magasa, dons a blonde wig and white face paint to play Madonna in the show. The show describes itself as "knockabout" and "irreverent". Mr Gough said: "Scotland has a great friendship with Malawi and the big story this year was Madonna adopting Mercy, so it's a perfect Festival show. "It's outrageous, irreverent, it's full of music. "We rewrite some of Madonna's songs to tell the story of how she ended up in Malawi, the problems she faced being stopped in the process and what Malawian's feel about it. "It is due to poverty that they are forced to put their children in to orphanages. There are ways for children to be cared for in their own countries, not taken to other cultures."

  Mo in Jacko Tribute?

Madonna, Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Robbie Williams are among the host of big names reportedly planning to record a charity disc of Michael Jackson's greatest hits. Other world-famous acts taking part include Whitney Houston, Usher and Brit schoolboy sensation Shaheen Jafargholi, with legends Stevie Wonder, 59, Diana Ross, 65, and Lionel Richie, 60, also expected to lay down tracks. The idea came about after a succession of stars sang cover versions of the singer's hits at his memorial service. Producers are asking the stars to perform their favourite Jacko songs. Mariah, 39, will sing I'll Be There and Britain's Got Talent star Shaheen, 12, who wowed fans at the Los Angeles memorial with his version of Who's Loving You, will be asked to record that track and Jacko's 1970s smash Ben. Madonna, 50, could be tempted by Beat It or Billie Jean, while other songs expected to be covered include Rock With You, She's Out Of My Life and Bad. And Robbie, 35, is being lined up to sing Man In The Mirror amid reports his former Take That bandmates could cover ABC, Working Day And Night or Don't Stop Til You Get Enough. A live tribute concert is also being planned at O2 Arena, involving the singer's family and other guests, on what would have been his 51st birthday on August 29.

  S&S Budapest "Yes, Yes, Yes"

Live Nation Hungary has accepted the apology of NUSI, concerning the problems that have arisen about the booking of the Puskas Ferenc Stadium for the concert of Madonna on August 22nd, and hereby informs the audience that the show will remain at the original venue, the Kincsem Park Hippodrome.Live Nation remains perplexed by the position of the President of the Hungarian Football Federation, who refused our offer of grass replacement at the Puskas Ferenc Stadium, which would clearly have been in the best interests of Hungarian football. But the most important thing now is that the show must go on, and we must accept that the time is not sufficient to try to solve the issues, in the face of such inflexibility. Unfortunately though, this inflexibility could have serious consequences for the future of major concerts in Hungary. We would like to take this opportunity to say a very special thanks to the management of Kincsem Park, who have shown commendable willingness to help throughout this affair. We look forward to welcoming the Madonna audience to an unforgettable concert at their excellent venue. All tickets remain valid to the Kincsem Park with the original conditions

  Mo+Guy = Not!

"American women aren't accustomed to chivalry!" said Irene Dunne in 1937's "The Awful Truth."
Well, one American woman not accustomed to chivalry – based on the expensive end of her marriage – is Madonna. The Big M had to pay big time to British director Guy Ritchie to finalize their divorce after eight intermittently blissful years. (The bliss was wearing thin by year four.)
So, it comes as a hilarious rumor that Madonna has penned a song dedicated to Guy, entitled "Eternal Love." Nope! Not that Madonna doesn't believe in eternal love. Underneath her steely refusal to be publicly vulnerable she is a dedicated romantic. But she ain't pining for Mr. Ritchie. They are civil and "amicable" because of their son, Rocco (and Guy is said also to be fond of David Banda, the little boy from Malawi, not to mention Madonna's daughter Lourdes). That's as far as it goes. Madonna did offer two songs on her last album that seemed to reference her soon-to-be-ex: Miles Away and Devil Wouldn't Recognize You. Neither indicated hope for their relationship.

Madonna has written a new song, Celebration, that will be a part of her coming Greatest Hits collection, a massive effort that is also titled Celebration. This set will include most of her most famous videos as well. It will be La Ciccone's final album for Warner Records, her home label for 25 years. And the star is still keeping company with beautiful and devoted Jesus Luz. She is not missing the emotional distance of Guy Ritchie.

I'm afraid no mention of Madonna right now could ignore the infamous photo of her from London, with seriously over-stressed and sinewy arms. Madonna has been – for my taste – too thin and too worked out for a long time. (Although when you meet her in person, she appears much less muscular than in pictures!) But I think this particular photograph was altered a bit to make the worst of a bad moment. Other shots from that same night show her as thin and wiry, but not grotesque.
Maybe once she's off this final leg of her tour, she'll relax, eat some fatty foods and put on a few. It's difficult to be anything but muscle from head to toe when you do what she does every night onstage for two hours.

  "Revolver" Video

Lil Wayne has agreed to collabo with Madonna for "Revolver" and to appear in a video for the singer's last contractual Warner Bros. album.

The "Revolver" music video and song are reportedly being scheduled for official release this fall.

"Celebration" is the first single off her upcoming greatest hits album, Celebration. The second single will be "Revolver" with Lil Wayne.
Their collaboration was previously leaked earlier this year.

Another new single in the album reportedly is a song called "Revolver" which has been leaked earlier this year with rapper Lil Wayne singing on the hook. This album will be made available in a two-CD set as well as a single CD. There will also be a DVD release which includes Madonna's never-before-seen music videos in addition to "Celebration" video.

This is the "Revolver" Demo sent to Madonna.

Officials of the Hungarian Football Association said today they will not allow U.S. pop star Madonna to perform at Budapest's soccer stadium. The staging of Madonna's concert Aug. 22 would damage the turf at Budapest's Ferenc Puskas stadium beyond repair just before two soccer matches, with Sweden Sept. 5 and Portugal Sept. 9, the Hungarian news agency MTI reported.Soccer officials argued the Madonna show could ruin two years of preparation work.Originally, the concert was planned for Budapest's Kincsem Park, a horse track. Officials said it now is likely the Madonna concert will be switched back to that venue, MTI said.

  Mo to visit Auschwitz

Madonna wants to take her children to Auschwitz so they can “see how lucky they are”.The singer thinks a visit to the famous concentration camp will be “life changing” for Lourdes, 12, Rocco, 8, newly adopted Mercy, 4, and David, 3.The 50-year-old star – who is a devout follower of Kabbalah, a mystical religion based on Judaism – is expected to make the trip when her she takes her Sticky and Sweet  tour to Poland later this month, and has already asked her staff to organise it.“It won’t be an easy trip but it is an ultimate life affirming experience, and one Madonna – because of her strong Kabbalah beliefs – does not want to ignore. She wants her children to appreciate how lucky they are and to learn about mistakes made in the past,” an insider said.Auschwitz was the largest of Adolf Hitler’s concentration camps built when the Nazis invaded Poland in 1941. It is estimated up to three million Jews and people of other ethnic groups were killed there.Madonna is also believed to be planning to take the children to see the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem.“The Wailing Wall is a very sacred place for anyone with links to the Jewish faith and she wants the children to see it,” a source said. The trip will reportedly happen in September to coincide with Madonna’s final date of her tour in Tel Aviv, Israel.

  S&S St. Petersburg Tonight!!!

s

Madonna's second visit to Russia had one of the most interesting venues in her entire career. She performed at the Palace Square of Saint Petersburg, which is situated in front of the monumental Winter Palace, that was the setting of several events of worldwide significance, including the Bloody Sunday of 1905 and the October Revolution of 1917, served as the residence of the ruler Tsars and is the home of world-famous Hermitage Museum, founded by Catherine the Great. The gorgeous spectacle unfortunately got spoiled by heavy rain during the opening act, but the crowd still managed to give it up for the new single Celebration and Jesus' appearance in Paul Oakenfold's set.

According to fan reports, Madonna was in a very good mood throughout the show (fortunately the rain did not come back so it was yet another daylight show for our M, as she started just before 9:30 pm). She dedicated the acoustic song Miles Away to Russia and since it was the birthday of Arkady the violinist, Madonna felicitated him onstage and the Arkady Gips trio played an encore song after the usual Doli Doli!
At the very end of the show, Madonna waved goodbye with "Thank you Russia, see you next time", which is surely a delight for Russian fans. Contrary to media speculation, Madonna did not swear onstage, neither did she incorporate communist messages into her show.
After Russia, Madonna prepares for the most difficult week of the tour as she's going to do 4 shows on the first week of August!

Concert organizers are pulling out all the stops to ensure Madonna’s one stop in Russia for her Sticky & Sweet tour goes off without a hitch, including taking steps to prevent rain falling on the day.As the stage was going up on St. Petersburg’s main square for Sunday’s outdoor concert, organizers said they had hired aircraft to drive away thundershowers forecast for Sunday evening.Tickets ranging from 2,000 to 30,000 rubles ($60-$1,000) were still available at outlets across Russia’s second city, which is one of 16 stops on the pop diva’s world tour.More than 3,000 police will be occupied in maintaining order for the concert, which involves closing a large section of downtown around Palace Square to traffic for more than eight hours on Sunday.Madonna was due to arrive in the city on Friday evening to prepare for the concert.Special care has been taken constructing the stage for the event following the death of a worker at the tour venue in Marseille, France on July 17. Seven were also injured during the collapse of the stage, which caused the July 19 concert there to be canceled.

Madonna gets her greatest hits groove on with 'Celebration'

Madonna's upcoming single was leaked online today, in advance of her fall hits collection "Celebration." The latter won't be released until the end of September, but for now, fans can sample a club-ready song from the effort, one that feels and sounds like an effective reboot of Madonna's late '80s hits.

The title track was co-produced by Madonna and electronic artist and long-time Madonna pal remixer Paul Oakenfold. The cut pretty much delivers what the title implies. It's slightly less Euro than latter-day Madonna dance-cuts such as "Hung Up," and a little less obsessed with tapping the producer-of-the-moment-styles of "Hard Candy." The end result is a song that falls somewhere in between, focusing on highly energetic synth-pop groove, yet isn't as inventive as either of the referenced works.

As a throwaway, midsummer dance pop number, it works. It's definitely a cut that nods to Madonna's '80s disco roots, and would fit comfortably on a hits collection packed between "Vogue" and "Ray of Light." A speak-sing bridge gives the song a little bit of an edge, and allows Madonna to flex some personality -- goofing that she doesn't recognize her dance partner without clothes on.

"Celebration" feels as if it has modest goals, at least by Madonna's standards. Even when it gets a bit risque (see above paragraph), silliness rules the day. She invites us "to the dance of life," and coasts over the chorus. "Celebration" the greatest-hits album will close the book on Madonna's Warner Bros. career, and "Celebration" the song is an effective look back, a gliding, reassuring number that she hasn't forgotten her beginning. But rather than instill a sense of nostalgia, everything feels a bit obligatory. The sound of an artist, hopefully, ready for the next chapter.

Insane video of "Vogue" from the front row at Valle Hovin in Oslo, Norway on July 30th, 2009. It was pouring rain and windy and Madonna performed it in a pea coat and H&M pants. The whole show was crazy...pouring rain and windy. She did the whole show and did an amazing job considering the circumstances.
