| Mo in talks to perform | |||||||
Even though we are sick of having Madonna's crotch in our face all the time, we still cling to her because we know she is capable of making artistic comebacks. We are already excited about her new album that has rock producer Brendon O'Brien on board and a possible reunion with Like a Virgin collaborator Nile Rogers. But the excitement doesn't stop here. We are told that Grammy producers asked Madonna to open up the award show this year. At first, she refused because she had nothing to promote. However, her manager convinced her to perform a couple classics. If the talks go through, we will see Madonna performing a medley of "Holiday," "Dress You Up," and "Frozen." Let's hope that the talks don't freeze like they did with Saturday Night Live last year.

| Christmas to Malawi | |||||||
Friends of Madonna’s adopted daughter sang carols at their orphanage… wearing Crocs sent as Xmas gifts by the star. The footwear was in a truckload of presents from little Mercy, four, to the children she grew up with at the Kondanani orphanage in Malawi, delivered by an African Santa Claus. Madonna, 51, also threw a party with fizzy drinks, hamburgers and chocolate at the orphanage and sent a Christmas card. The gifts were handed to more than 80 children with tags reading “Love from Mercy”. Orphan Chitsanzo, six, said: “I am very happy my friend Mercy bought us shoes, toys, chocolates and cakes. They are very beautiful.” Her friend Happiness, four, added: “I’m so happy I have received Christmas gifts. I have my own toys now.” Carers said it was the most presents the children had ever received.

| A letter from Malawi | |||||||
Dear MADONNAMEXICO.COM The impact we're having is incredible! It's nothing short of astounding to see the way so many people have united from all corners of the globe to make a difference in the small African nation of Malawi. Our individual actions are coming together to create lasting change for the next generation of Malawi children. The stories we've received from people supporting Raising Malawi -- people just like you -- are heartwarming. I wanted to share a few with you. Dianne in Canada writes: And Didier in Belgium writes: Through the support and collaboration of many individuals, we're seeing incredible progress in Malawi. You can help drive that progress by making a tax-deductible donation to Raising Malawi. Madonna will match your donation dollar for dollar, doubling your impact: http://www.raisingmalawi.org/SupportRaisingMalawi We have the opportunity to raise up a nation that is on the verge of losing a whole generation to poverty and HIV/AIDS. But we have to seize it. As J. Stephen in the United States writes: Please consider what you can do today to support Raising Malawi. Make a tax-deductible donation now: http://www.raisingmalawi.org/SupportRaisingMalawi Thank you for all you've done for the children of Malawi. Respectfully yours, Philippe van den Bossche P.S. Madonna will be speaking about Raising Malawi and the work we are doing together on American Morning on CNN -- Wednesday, December 23, be sure to tune in.

| Billboard honors Madonna | |||||||
Billboard magazine has released a special double-issue celebrating the end of the 2000s decade, which includes a segment dedicated to Madonna's biggest achievement of the decade, the record-breaking success of the Sticky & Sweet Tour. She gets a lot of congratulations for the biggest solo tour of all time, including from her own manager Guy Oseary. Her 50 biggest hits on Billboard are also listed, Like A Virgin being in the pole position. There's also an interview with the manager, Live Nation's Arthur Fogel and a Warner Bros. Recods Chairman/CEO, Tom Whalley. Arthur Fogel says the 2008-2009 tour was executed perfectly, the North American stadium shows drew criticism in advance but turned out to be huge successes, along with the 2009 shows in new markets. All her previous tours this decade had talks about an extension, but it only managed to happen for Sticky & Sweet. He also "feels" that Madonna could do (and probably will do) Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Southeast Asia on the next tour. Beyond that, "it's a question of time we have and what kind of show she's thinking about." Guy Oseary says the relationship with Live Nation is amazing, because they never put pressure on them and they are friends. Both men claim the long-term LN deal didn't have a direct impact on Sticky & Sweet, and all the synergies in merchandising, branding, licensing and recording are "the future, the next level. That's when we start incorporating our albums into things. We have yet to scratch the surface on what the future holds." Warner Chairman/CEO Tom Whalley claims Madonna is the quintessential Warner Bros. artist, selling 200 million albums worldwide. He reveals Warner Bros. is indeed releasing the Sticky & Sweet Tour on DVD (no release date given though) and they are expecting it to do well because The Confesions Tour sold more than 1 million copies worldwide. He calls the parting with Madonna bittersweet but "We always wish her the best and we will continue to do things with her because we have her catalog. Over time, there will be plenty of things to collaborate on between Warner Bros. and Madonna, so we're not completely out of business with her. Any opportunity that comes up where we can work together we look forward to." |

Madonna arrives in London, today December 21, 2009. Queen of Pop' Madonna heads to London to spend Christmas with ex-husband Guy Ritchie. The 51-year-old singer is bringing the couple’s children Rocco, David Banda, her adopted daughter Mercy James, and her eldest child Lola, to see Ritchie for a traditional Christmas. "Madonna is flying in so Guy can spend Christmas Day with the children. Things are amicable between them and the children love Christmas at Ashcombe House in Wiltshire, which Guy has turned into a Santa's grotto," said a source close to the 'Like a Virgin' hitmaker. The 41-year-old Ritchie and the 'Vogue' hitmaker got divorced in December last year. The British director Guy Ritchie finally lifted the lid on his conflicting emotions for ex-wife Madonna, when he said in an interview that he still loves her.

| Mo Top celebrity of decade | |||||||
Madonna was declared the “most famous celebrity of the decade”, in a column inch countdown of British national newspapers. Robbie Williams, who has enjoyed comeback success this year, was the most written-about male celeb of the past 10 years. Michael Jackson, whose death in June – just before he was due to embark on a marathon string of London concerts – sent shockwaves around the world, was the best-documented star of 2009 in the survey. Man of the moment and Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor supremo Simon Cowell was in second place in the survey which covered 2009 up to December 7. Others catapulted into the limelight thanks to Cowell’s talent shows include Susan Boyle, who researchers found had 3,170 pieces written about her in 2009, and twins John and Edward Grimes, collectively known as Jedward, who attracted 1,112 articles due to their X Factor success. Cheryl Cole’s national newspaper popularity increased almost three-fold following her role as a judge in The X Factor, according to the research. In 2007, the Girls Aloud singer had 884 articles written about her, but this number increased to 2,241 in 2008 and a further 3,745 reports appeared this year, which means that she is the fourth most written about celebrity of 2009. With a high profile marriage and divorce, adoption bids and one of the most successful careers around, Madonna has accrued 45,633 mentions over the decade. This was around 17,000 more news articles than her nearest rival Williams. The study was commissioned by online UK TV channel Liv, which features style and celebrity programming.

GEORGE Clooney went on a "really bad" date with Madonna after she split with Guy Ritchie. According to British newspaper the Daily Star, the Hollywood hunk — who is currently dating Italian TV presenter Elisabetta Canalis — was set up with the Holiday singer by a mutual pal. "He figured she is a smart, accomplished woman so why not give it a try?" a source said. "They went out for dinner in New York, but it turned out really bad. "She kept trying to make jokes that weren't at all funny the entire time and didn't want to have a real conversation with him", maybe because he is gay.

Check out this week's issue of the Italian Vanity Fair magazine, out now, for the worldwide preview of Dolce & Gabbana's Spring/Summer campaign featuring Madonna photographed by Steven Klein and to read what Stefano Gabbana had to say about the shooting the Icon.
"Madonna's private life is seldom out of the papers but this new Dolce & Gabbana campaign is unlike anything you have seen before" - the designer duo's official blog Swide.com writes about the preview. "Exit the paparazzo, these shots by Steven Klein reveal much more than a grainy stolen picture, they showcase an intimate, real aspect to the ultimate icon's life." "In keeping with Dolce & Gabbana's Spring/Summer 2010 collection's emphasis on Mediterranean heritage and classic Italian sensuality, the mood isn't unlike a film from the days of Italian Neorealism. Madonna herself recalls the strong, raw sensuality of the iconic actress Anna Magnani - showcasing when soft sensuality meets bold authenticity." "In the Vanity Fair Italy feature, Stefano Gabbana discusses the campaign and why Madonna was the perfect match: "She loved the collection," he says, "...she is passionate and impressively knowledgeable about Italian cinema," (Monica is Vitti her favourite actress and we see the resemblance)." Vanity Fair Italy is in news stands now.

Madonna reportedly turned down the chance to perform a duet with Stacey Solomon on Saturday night’s X Factor.
According to The Sun, the pop superstar had been in talks to team up with Dannii Minogue’s act for the final, but her team eventually rejected the offer because she does not have new material or a tour to promote. A source said: “We were told she wasn’t in promotion so it wasn’t going to happen. It’s a shame as she’d have been brilliant and given the show a real lift, especially with Stacey.”
